My only (half) star removal would concern breakfast. We went to a very lively local restaurant one night with OK food and great atmosphere and a top seafood restaurant on our other night with excellent food but no other diners. Ask at the check in desk for recommendations and don't be afraid to be very specific about what you like and don't like. There are excellent restaurants in the streets around the hotel. The real surprise was how quiet the room was, many hotels with rooms overlooking the small busy streets must have to deal with street noise, however the sleep quality here was high. We stayed in a junior suite on the first floor and appreciated the extra space. In a city of baroque extravagance and ancient antiques, the Mario has modern, sleek design. We thought this small hotel was lovely, perfectly situated and a great value.The Mario de Fiori is one of three small luxury hotels near to the Spanish steps. It's only a 15-20 minute walk to the Fontana di Trevi and the Pantheon. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops right outside the door. The hotel location is excellent - about a block from the Spanish Steps and in the heart of an upscale shopping area near the Via Condotti. The noise did not bother us but those looking for something more quiet may want to ask for an inner room away from the street. Our room on the 2nd floor faced a bustling street so loud chattering and honking cars could be heard but dies down as it gets later. The room was simple, modern, very clean and the hotel staff was helpful and super friendly. She was comfortable and had no complaints. There are only 9 rooms-lobby is small but there's a lounge on the second floor (free tea/coffee pods available.) We had a large room and requested a rollaway bed for our teen daughter.
